Recognition Awards Ceremony

The Philippine Independence Ball 2024 was a dazzling fiesta celebrating Filipino heritage! Emcees Tyler Magnaye and Emily Salcedo kept the energy high and the smiles wide all night long. The event started with “Rigodon de Honor” by the 2024 PHCM Coordinating Committee, followed by a grand entrance of the Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba. The Musika Singers delivered powerful renditions of “O Canada” and “Lupang Hinirang,”

Ms. Marsha Missyabit’s heartfelt land acknowledgment was followed by warm greetings from Honourable Anita Neville, Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba, and Honourable Angelica Escalona, Philippine Consul General. Ms. Perla Javate, President of the Philippine Heritage Council of Manitoba Inc., gave a cheerful welcome, making everyone feel at home.

Throughout the evening, guests enjoyed mesmerizing performances by the Musika Singers and the vibrant Magdaragat Philippines Inc. Messages from Honourable Flordeliz “Gigi” Osler, Senator of Canada; Honourable Malaya Marcelino, Minister of Labour and Immigration; and His Worship Scott Gillingham, Mayor of Winnipeg, added a touch of gravitas to the festivities.

A highlight of the night was the special performance by the “MA-BUHAY” cast, introduced with flair by producer Mr. Joseph Sevillo. The event wrapped up on a high note with a lively “Friendship Circle” led by Perla Javate and Paul Ong, followed by a dance that had everyone on their feet.

The Philippine Independence Ball 2024 was a joyous celebration of culture, community, and pure fun, leaving everyone looking forward to next year’s bash!
