Join the Bison Regional Science Fair: An Invitation to Community Involvement in STEM Excellence

As the Bison Regional Science Fair gears up for its exciting 2024 edition, the organizing committee extends a warm invitation to the community at large, encouraging participation as judges and inviting students to showcase their scientific prowess. This annual event, scheduled to commence in the second week of January 2024, culminates in an in-person extravaganza from April 16-18th, offering a platform for nearly 300 grade 4-12 students from private and public schools in Manitoba, including remote First Nations communities. Students can participate as a class, group or individually. It’s never too early to start thinking about what you want to do! At the regional level, students compete for thousands of dollars in cash and prizes including the chance to join Team Bison Manitoba and represent the Team Bison at the Canada-Wide Science Fair, all expenses paid.

Why Participate?
The Bison Regional Science Fair is not just an event; it’s a dynamic hub for nurturing young minds. Through hands-on experimentation and research, students develop critical skills in scientific methods, exploration, experimentation, and communication. The projects presented by these budding scientists address significant societal challenges, reflecting their commitment to making a positive impact.

Pathways to Success: From Local Recognition to Global Platforms
The success stories of Bison Manitoba participants at the Canada-Wide Science Fair exemplify the transformative power of community support. SCWIST’s guidance has been instrumental, leading to well-deserved awards and accolades. Several organizations such as St. Boniface Hospital Foundation, St. Boniface Research Centre, local businesses, and organizations etc. supported BRSF with numerous prizes and sponsorships. As a last year’s result, Keerthan’s representation of Canada at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair in Dallas, USA, showcases the potential for global recognition.

Anika Paliwal’s Excellence Award-Bronze Medal and scholarships from prestigious Canadian universities, Baljot Rai’s recognition as a finalist for the Canadian Stockholm Junior Water Prize, and Sneh Vyas’s entrance scholarship from the University of Alberta are moments of immense pride for the community.
