2024 FascinAsian Film Festival ends with a blast of talents!

Celebrates Asian film’s heritage and diversity

Five outstanding recognition awards capped the three-day 2024 FascinAsian Film Festivals held recently at Qaumajug,Inuit Art Centre-WAG.

The winning short films and the filmmakers were Building Bridges Award: Boat People by Kjeil Boersma and Thao Lam; Best Performance in the Short Film: Jadyn Nasato- “Anna” from Desync; Best Short Film: “Tequila Sunset”-Jinsui Song; Erin Hembrador Emerging Artist Award: MC de Natividad-Bumalik; Audience Choice Award: “MySon Went Quiet”- Ian Bawa.

For the three-day film festival, there were 31 short films, four feature films shown, and two discussions on film festival strategy and the current state of Asian presentation in media with prominent speakers on the film industry.

Members of the Jury include Chris Vajcner, Iris Yudai, and Leslie Supnet.

Alan Wong, president and Winnipeg Festival Director, of the FasinAsian Film Festival, with the slogan: “Year of the Dragon, Year of Discovery”, said: “We are happy to be able to recognize the exceptional work of our filmmakers, and the award sponsors Warner Bros Discovery Access Canada, ACTRA Manitoba and Asian Heritage Society of Manitoba. And thanks to all funders, sponsors filmmakers, our staff, and all the volunteers. We look forward to doing this festival next year.”
