Zumbathon raises over $6,500 for Typhoon Haiyan
One amazing event. Twenty five of Winnipeg’s finest and most talented Zumba instructors and over 200 participants made it out to the Zumbathon for Super Typhoon Haiyan at St. Mary’s Academy gym on November 22nd.
Over $6,500 was raised for the Canadian Red Cross and with the current Government of Canada matching donation appeal, over $13,000 will be earmarked for Typhoon Haiyan relief efforts. On behalf of Kristin Macaraeg, a special thank you to St. Mary’s Academy, Long and McQuade, Bel Ayre Rentals, Staples, Coca-Cola, ZRock Fitness, and the Filipino Journal for their generous donations, making the night a huge success.
Special thanks to Charlotte McIntosh, Kathy Banares, John Lalota, Cyrile Ong for helping organize the night. A big shout out to the event organizer and one of Winnipeg’s finest Zumba instructors, Kristin Macaraeg for making it all happen including the many family and friends that helped out. Everyone in Winnipeg’s Zumba community worked extremely hard to make difference right now for those affected by Typhoon Haiyan. On behalf of Kristin, a sincere thank you to all those who came out and had a fantastic time partying with us for a worthy cause. A big shout out to Megan Blanchett from the Canadian Red Cross for providing support and guidance for the event.
