Almost three hundred people, consist of families and friends, filled the parish hall of St. Joseph to grace the Annual Fiesta of Angono, Rizal Association of Winnipeg (ARAW). The “Mag-anak na Higantes”, an Angono icon, welcomed everyone as they entered the venue. Each family brought their special dish to share which made the table an instant buffet of Filipino food & delicacies. Raffles were also drawn for silent auction, 50/50, and special categories like early bird, membership, and autopac sticker. A special number was also presented the Tenyenta and Kapitana as they danced the “Sayaw ng Pagbati”, a tradition practiced during Easter Sunday in Angono. They are also part of the fluvial procession on the feast of St. Clement. Before the night ended, the draw for the next Hermano was made. Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Joey & Lea Sulit, for being our new Hermano for 2014. The night was concluded with line dancing, participated by the parehadoras, Tenyenta and Kapitana, the new hermano, carrying the image of St. Clement, the rest of the ARAW members, and the Mag-anak na Higantes. This is Angonians in Winnipeg’s way of having the fluvial procession or Pagoda sa Lawa. ARAW officers, led by Ate Gina Samson, thanked everyone for their active participation and unending support to all the activities of the organization. Until next year mga ka-ARAW!
