Record-Breaking Advance Voter Turnout in 2025 Federal Election

Elections Canada has announced a significant surge in advance voter turnout for the current federal election, with an estimated 7.3 million Canadians casting their ballots over the four-day advance voting period.

Advance polls were open from Friday, April 18 to Monday, April 21, running daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The preliminary numbers show a 25% increase in advance voting compared to the 5.8 million electors who voted early in the 2021 general election.

These figures, while still preliminary, signal growing enthusiasm and early engagement from voters across the country. A full breakdown by electoral district will be made available soon at elections.ca.

Whether driven by convenience, civic duty, or a desire to beat the crowds, Canadians are showing up — and voting early.
