Pinoy Parol Kontes, a pre-festival event of the 2023 Manitoba Filipino Street Festival has recently concluded with a program at Save on Foods International at Northgate. After 3 weeks of showcasing 19 lanterns hung at the store along with running a contest for the shoppers, all lanterns were judged by a panel of judges selected by MFSF on November 30th, and winners were announced last December 11.
First place was Angela Igne with her “Boodle Fight Parol,” bringing message of hope and togetherness this Christmas season. Angela took home $700.00 as prize.
Second place was Elmer and Lorelei Ramirez with their parol entry depicting the colors of the Philippine flag. They won $500 as prize.
And third place was Eufrocina Boots Juan with her parol entry that she called Star of Hope. Juan was awarded $300.00 as prize.
Non-winning entries received gift certificates from Save on Foods.
All entries will be on display until December 31, 2022 at Save on Foods Northgate.
