PCG declares heightened alert during Christmas

Over a week before Christmas, the Philippine Coast Guard said that it is now on heightened alert in preparation for the holiday season when passengers are expected to rush into ports to go home for their holiday break.

Starting December 15, the PCG in a statement, said it has already conducted heightened vessel inspections, augmented the number of port personnel to ensure security, and provided personal help desks in various seaport terminals.

An order to perform patrols and prepare deployable response groups and contingency plans for Coast Guard personnel is also in place.
The heightened alert status of PCG will last until January 7, 2023.
