Jon Reyes, the current PC MLA St. Norbert, will seek the voters in the new Constituency of Waverly in the 2020 Provincial Election, after winning the nomination held recently. He will contest his seat as a member of the Manitoba Legislative Assembly against the nominated opponents of the NDP and the Liberal, and probably the candidate of the Green Party.
“Jon has been a tremendous representative for his Constituents in St. Norbert,” said PC Party leader and the current Premiere of Manitoba at the nomination meeting. “His record of public service makes him the best choice to represent the new Constituency of Waverly. I look forward to working with him as we build a winning team that will continue to ear the trust of Manitobans in the next provincial election.”
Jon’s first attempt to become a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) was successful when he won the provincial election in 2016 representing St. Norbert Constituency.
Reyes was appointed as a Special Envoy for Military Affairs by Premiere Brian Pallister after winning the election which elevated Pallister as the new Manitoba Premiere.
A Canadian Force veteran, MLA Jon Reyes is a former small business owner, community volunteer, and the founder and the 1st president of the Manitoba Filipino Business Council. And currently, sports volunteer as a football official for the U of M Bison and the Winnipeg Blue Bomber respectively.
Many Filipino and other ethnic supporters graced the nomination meeting. Married to Cynthia Baquiran and has two children.
