Aida Champagne becomes the official Liberal MLA candidate for Tyndall Park Riding

A festive mood and an air of enthusiasm lingered at the hall of the Tyndall Park Community Centre as Aida Champagne, a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Medal and one of the most active community leaders in the Filipino community, was acclaimed as the official Liberal MLA candidate for Tyndall Park Riding in the April 2016 provincial election.

“By listening and learning, I want to become the voice for Tyndall Park in the Manitoba Legislature. But make no mistake, although this seat represents only one vote, together we are more than just one vote. We are a dream with no limits, a people with no fear. I am more optimistic than ever about what we can achieve together – a strong economy supported by a good and hardworking society where progressive values blossom into practical solutions, not political rhetoric,” Champagne said when she accepted the acclaimed nomination in front of some official Liberal candidates from the various political ridings, and the more than one hundred supporters.Roldan Sevillano nominated Aida Champagne while Rowena Oquendo seconded the motion. Sam Dixon opened the nomination program.

And to Rana Bokhari, the leader of the Liberal Party of Manitoba, Champagne said:”Your dedication to a liberal vision for this great province contributes to what has inspired me to run for public office.”

Aida Champagne is the current chairman of the Manitoba Filipino Street Festival; president of the Filipino Senior Group of Winnipeg; and one of the coordinators of the fund raising for the typhoon victims in the Philippines, and as a volunteer in the various charitable and non-governmental agencies like Siloam Mission. And one time, she was the reigning Miss Philippines in the Foklorama annual festival of nations.
