Grandma impresses ‘Asia’s Got Talent’ judges

Felicitas “Lola Fe” Garcia, an old woman who makes a living selling vegetables, has a voice ala Bonnie Tyler. Recently Lola Fe and her discoverer Roadfill Obeso, half of the comic duo Moymoy Palaboy, took it to the next level and performed their odd combination in front of international judges of “Asia’s Got Talent” at the Mall of Asia.

The event was filled with laughter and amazement, and as the song went to climax, the audience started to get wild of Lola Fe’s singing prowess as well as the Roadfill’s funny antics. At the end of the song, three judges namely, singers Anggun, Melanie C and Van Ness Wu, were on their feet and voted in the affirmative, sending the duo to the next stage of the competition. However Canadian music producer and Grammy-winning judge David Foster said no because he wants Lola Fe to go solo and drop Roadfil.

Roadfill revealed in the e-mail interview that he discovered Lola Fe, now 54, on Facebook, which led to videos of their duets, posted on his YouTube channel “roadfill” in 2013. He said he was willing to follow Foster’s suggestion if that was the only way Lola Fe could advance. He hopes to see her get more opportunities, adding that he feels great to inspire others regardless of age.
