MTRCB honors Liezl

On March 25, two days before what would have been her 47th birthday, the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) honored former board member Anna Lissa “Liezl” Muhlach Sumilang Martinez by naming MTRCB fourth floor board room as the Liezl S. Martinez Hall.

hing event was attended by her husband, actor Albert Martinez, children Alfonso, Alyanna and Alissa, father Romeo Vasquez, MTRCB Chairman Eugenio “Toto” Villareal, board members, and the office staff who loved their Ma’am Liezl dearly.

Born Anna Lisa Sumilang Martinez, she was the daughter of showbiz legend Amalia Fuentes and actor Romeo Vasquez. She retired from showbiz after appearing in movies produced by her mom’s company and focused as being the wife to Albert and mom to their children. She joined the MTRCB during the term of Sen. Grace Poe-Llamanzares as the agency’s chairperson.

Liezl battled breast cancer for years and the cancer cells had spread to her lungs before she passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 14 at 6:15 a.m. in Medical City, Pasig.
