The light rain and cloudy skies did not dampen the spirits of thousands from Winnipeg’s Filipino community during the 3rd annual Manitoba Filipino Street Festival. The festival continues to grow with over 50 parade entries and over 70 participating community associations and sponsors.
The Manitoba Filipino Street Festival is largest Filipino community event in Manitoba as it brings together associations and groups that make up Manitoba’s 70,000 strong Filipino community. The festival demonstrated the rich history, culture and talent from near and far. Local entertainers, singers, dancers performed on the festival main stage and the indoor centre court stage at Garden City Shopping Centre.
The main stage finale that closed out this year’s festival included special performances by X-Factor USA finalist Ellona Santiago and the much anticipated appearance by The Filipino Channel’s (TFC) own Gerald Anderson. Even under light rainfall and threatening skies, Gerald Anderson fans stayed to scream, cheer and take selfies during his performance and on-stage antics.
Next year’s 2015 Manitoba Filipino Street Festival is going to be held on Saturday, August 22, 2015.
