Spirit 1 Taekwondo Takes Home the Hardware

Spirit 1 Taekwondo sent 49 students and walked away with 96 medals at the Community Club Challenge hosted by the Ultimate Taekwondo Super Series. This places Spirit 1 as number one once again, for the 5th consecutive tournament in the medal standings out of 17 schools in Manitoba. We want to recognize a few of our students as they earned 2018-2019 Manitoba Ultimate Taekwondo Super Series Champions. They received the most points over the four tournaments hosted by UTSS. May Villarin, Ms. Jasmine de Luna, Ms. Lorraine Dabasol, Mr. Minh-tri Vo, Mr. Carter Tardiff and Shoodear John.

Our Maples branch, that just opened its door on May 2, sent 8 athletes that came home with 9 medals. It was a great learning experience for our white belt athletes. Congratulations to Ms. Chriselle Ambalina on her promotion to Assistant Instructor for Maples branch. She was very committed to getting her athletes ready for the tournament.

Spirit 1 sent their first athlete to an international tournament on June 1st. Xander Bedona-Padua competed in Chicago at the ChampYon Taekwondo tournament and took home a bronze in poomsae and silver in sparring. It was a tough tournament with some amazing athletes.

Spirit 1 is growing again. Look out for a new branch in Steinbach opening in July ran by Master Mike Tam and Knight Marasigan, a Little Dragons class starting the Maples area for 3 – 5 years olds and our summer special offers for Taekwondo classes.
