Manitobans gathered at the grounds of the Legislative Building last December 14th to witness and be part of the Illuminate 150 which is the official kickoff event for the year-long celebration of the 150th years of the Province of Manitoba. It marked the 150 days countdown to May 12, 2020 which is the 150th year the province was created.
Highlights of Illuminate 150 were the snowmobile acrobatics, snow tubing and the flip of a switch on a light display of 300,000 LED lights. Other activities that the guests enjoyed were tobogganing, snowshoeing, interactive displays from Lights of the North and selfie with the Grey Cup that the Winnipeg Blue Bombers took home last month.
Manitoba 150 co-chairs, Stuart Murray and Monique LaCoste said that the event was the tone that they wanted to set to get the Manitobans into the spirit of Manitoba 150 with some exciting and unexpected moments.
