Lyca to attend classes soon

Life will soon change Lyca Gairanod, the first ever grand champion of “The Voice Kids.”

According to her mom Maria Nessel, Lyca will now be able to attend school and realize her dream to study. Since she cannot read, Lyca learned the songs she performed on the talent search program just by listening to them.

The 9-year-old girl from Tanza, Cavite who helps her mother scavenge junk to sell and even perform for her neighbors in exchange for cash or food, took home P1 million, a one-year recording contract with MCA Universal, house and lot, a home appliance showcase, a musical instrument showcase, and P1 million worth of trust fund.

For Lyca’s coach, Sarah Geronimo, Lyca won not just because viewers took pity on her, but because she has the talent which she was able to show during the final round of the competition. Winning second prize was Darren Espanto, 13, also from Team Sarah. Juan Karlos Labajo (Team Bamboo), 13, and Darlene Vibares (Team Lea Salonga), 10, came in third and fourth, respectively.
