A concerted efforts of the many Filipino talents and dedicated volunteers made the opening of the 1st National Filipino Heritage Month of June, recently held at the Maples Collegiate, under the leadership of Kevin Lamoureux, member of the Parliament, Winnipeg North, his daughter, Cindy Lamoureux, MLA, Burrows, and Dante Aviso, production director.
Five segments of historical footnotes were presented as the program went on by the various performing groups, from folk dances and songs. And in between the program, the awarding of certificates and medallions was held, recognizing many Filipinos who have contributed his or her time and talents to the Filipino community.
