Excitement to the Max as famous Filipino restaurant opens in Winnipeg

Manitobans do not need to travel to Calgary or Edmonton anymore to enjoy the famous “sarap to the bones” chicken after Max’s Restaurant Winnipeg officially opened its doors to the public last April 5, 2019.

Max’s Restaurant Winnipeg is a family business venture, franchised by the Alibin Group Inc. composed of siblings John, Frank, Arnel, Hipolito Jr, Sheila and their mom Natividad and in honor of their late father Hipolito Sr.

Hipolito Jr, in his speech, was happy to share some good news since their soft opening last January. In the business and economic side, the restaurant created 60 new jobs and building the restaurant definitely contributed to the trades industry.

He also shared that their Max’s franchise is the first in North America to showcase the future look of Max’s Restaurant globally. JR also acknowledged both the families and staff who have been working hard together to keep up with the challenges of having a new business and to bring the best food and service to their customers. They are also thankful to all their partners and supporters who have made this venture a reality not only for the family but also for Manitoba.

The Grand Opening Blowout was graced by community leaders, personalities and friends in the media. Max’s North America owner Bill Rogers, who led the Alibin brothers in the traditional cutting of spring chicken, was also present to support the family. He said that Max’s Winnipeg will be here to continue to bring the Filipino hospitality to the world through fresh, authentic Filipino food at a reasonable price.

Guests enjoyed a sumptuous lunch where some of the house specialties like kare-kare, pork adobo, pancit bihon, egg roll and of course, Max’s chicken were served.

Max’s Restaurant Winnipeg, which is the 6th out of the 16 chains in North American and one of the 215 branches worldwide, sits on a 4500 square-foot lot located at 1255 St. James St.
