Vetoes P93.3 Billion Pork Barrel
President Rodrigo Duterte has finally signed the 2019 General Appropriations Act or national budget four days after threatening to “outright veto” the entire budget.
Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea said Duterte signed Republic Act 11260 on Monday, April 15th. He added that the President vetoed parts of the budget bill, including P95.3 billion worth of items in the “Details of DPWH Programs/Projects.” These projects were vetoed because they are not among his budget “priorities” for 2019. The government was operating on a reenacted budget for over two months prior to the signing of the budget bill.
