The DNA testing conducted on the cadaver believed to be of the Dawla Islamiya Lanao (DI) leader Benito Marohombsar or “Abu Dar turned out positive.
The test result was confirmed by Colonel Romeo Brawner, commander of the Army’s 103rd Brigade, who added that they are still waiting for the report from the Philippine National Police – Scene of the Crime Operatives (PNP-SOCO) that took a nail sample from the body which was compared to the DNA of his family or relatives. Dar was killed in the Lanao del Sur encounter a month ago. Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said the DI is now leaderless and they are monitoring who will replace Dar.
