Guitarist and singer-songwriter Cynthia Alexander is in town and performed recently at Whitespace Manila. She also received the Jack Daniel’s On Stage Ph Indie Icon Award.
It was Jack Daniel’s that chose her to represent the country in the Jack Daniel’s World Music Tour in Singapore several years ago. The multi-talented indie artist has also performed on many international stages including the Rainforest World Music Festival in Malaysia and the Southeast Asian Night Market Festival in New Zealand. She also played gongs and bass on world tours .
Cynthia has released four albums, and is involved in a wide variety of music projects. In 2012, she left the country to pursue a music career in Seattle. Now Jack Daniel’s brought her back home for the show held last April 17.
Cynthia noted how the local music scene has evolved through the years. She advised aspiring indie artists to dream big, work hard, be authentic, strive to be sustainable and most especially, to have fun.
