Catfish for Cash

Catfish for Cash

The Lockport Community Marketing Corporation is holding a Tagged Catfish Contest this June. The contest actually officially starts on Saturday May 30th and goes until Sunday June 28th. While this is not the first time a contest of this kind has been held, the fact that it is occurring over the course of five weekends is unprecedented.

A total of ten channel catfish will be caught and released with specially created ‘tags’ affixed onto their dorsal fins. Each tag represents a cash value ranging from $500 to a top prize of $5000! Anglers then have the aforementioned contest period to try and catch one by rod and reel. In order to participate, contestants need only purchase a $20 entry ticket and have their ticket stub with them whenever they go fishing for ‘cats’.

Requirements to claim a cash prize are the submission of: a picture of the affixed tag on the catfish, a picture of the angler with the fish and ticket stub, the removed tag, and the successful live release of the fish.

Tickets will be available for purchase at participating retailers or by contacting me via email. For more information and complete listing of rules: email me, go onto kickerfish.ca, or contact Contest Chair Dan Sernyk at anglerdan@mymts.net.
