The opening ceremonies saw YouTube singing sensation Maria Aragon sing the Canadian and Philippine national anthems of the start of the 20th season of IKAW Basketball. Opening ceremonies were at Tec Voc High School and saw players from 28 teams and three divisions – open, 38+ and 48+ during an early morning athletes parade.
Jerry Medina, IKAW Commissioner presided over ceremonies that included greetings from Kevin Lamoureux, MP for Winnipeg North, councillors Mike Pagtakhan and Harvey Smith. Both councillors shared the duty of the opening day jump ball during the opening day match.
IKAW Basketball games are played every Sunday starting at 10am at Tec Voc High School.
