Mayweather looks forward to Pacquiao as his May 5 opponent

In reference to a statement last week by Team Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather Jr. declared Wednesday in his Twitter account that he has already secured a guarantee for his purse and is now ready to fight Manny Pacquiao on May 5.

Mayweather added that all Top Rank chief Bob Arum has to do to make the fight happen is get in touch with Golden Boy Promotions Chief Executive Officer Richard Schaefer.

But Pacquiao’s top adviser Mike Koncz said that it would be better not to be drawn into making a comment saying that while a Mayweather fight is still on the table, he would rather wait a few more days before saying anything.

A few days ago, the unbeaten Mayweather twitted that he is not interested in fighting anybody else but Pacquiao.

Arum spent five days in the country and discussed Pacquiao’s plans for 2012.

Mayweather still tops the list of priorities, way ahead of prime candidates Miguel Cotto, Tim Bradley, Juan Manuel Marquez, and Lamont Peterson.
