The official certificate of the Provincial Proclamation of the Asian Heritage Month of May was handed over by Hon. Cathy Cox, Minister of Sport, Culture and Heritage, to Art Miki, president of the Asian Heritage Society of Manitoba during the formal opening held at the Legislative building last May 4th.
Some traditional Asian cultural numbers were presented by the various organizations in front of the guests representing some Asian groups and associations.
Other guests include Wab Kinew, leader of the Opposition; Bruce Gehlen, Regional VP of RBC.
The program for the whole month of May is in full swing, showcasing a diverse range of traditional and modern-art form, cultural demonstration and educational events.
This year’s celebration marks the 16th year of the Asian Heritage Month of May.
