(Urban Dub and Franco at Pyramid, March 2)
Several months have passed since the last Philippine band graced Winnipeg. Luckily, especially for enthusiasts of Alternative Rock music, two Philippine bands will be treating again Winnipeg with their respective brands of music.
On March 2, don your rockin’ getups and troop to Pyramid Cabaret (176 Fort St., Donwtown Winnipeg) and bring the roof down with the music of Urban Dub and Franco. Winter is still here; so, it is timely to warm yourself up with a sweat-worthy Rock gig.
Formed in 2000, in Cebu City, Philippines, Urban Dub has released six studio albums—from 2001’s Birth to 2013’s Esoteric, spawning a string of singles that include “Come,” “Would You Go?”, “Gone,” “Soul Searching,” “Alert the Armory,” “First of Summer,” “Guillotine,” “Gravity,” and “Never Will I Forget.” Urban Dub’s musical influences included The Deftones and other edgy and hard-rockin’ Alternative bands. Currently comprised by Gabby Alipe (lead vocals, guitar), John Dinopol (guitar, vocals), Russ Manaloto (bass, vocals), and Sam Saludsong (drums), Urban Dub is performing with fellow Philippine Rockers Franco at Pyramid Cabaret, on March 2, as part of their Canada Tour 2018.
Currently consisting of Franco Reyes (lead vocals, guitar), Paul Cañada (guitar), Dave Delfin (bass), and Victor Guison (drums), Franco has three studio albums under its name—2010’s self-titled, 2013’s Soul Adventurer, and this year’s Flight—and a number of award-winning songs like “Cast Away,” “This Gathering,” and “Better Days.” Franco will perform with Urban Dub at Pyramid Cabaret on March 2 as the Winnipeg leg of their Canada Tour 2018.
