It is that time of the year where a lot of people clear clutter out of their house and bring in extra cash through a garage sale. It is a spring cleaning extended to summer, letting go of pre-loved items. Anywhere in the city, sale signs are up. Some are set up by families and others are collaboration of communities.
While most of the garage sale are simply informal selling and letting go of mostly unwanted home and personal items, the Light of Jesus Family-Singles organized a garage sale last July 27th to raise funds for their annual Love Life Retreat happening in November. It is a weekend of talks for spiritual and personal growth, worship and fun.
Hosted by LOJF Singles, it is a way of helping people know themselves better.
The group opened their venue earlier than advertised and were surprised with a lot of people who came in. The crowd was non-stop that made almost half of the items sold in five hours. It was LOJF Singles first year organizing a garage sale and was happy for a successful turnout.
LOJF Singles is having a second round of sale on August 3rd, 8am-3pm at 578 Arlington. Furniture, electronics, clothes, shoes and many more await you.
And for those who want to join the retreat, you can message on Facebook LOJF-Singles Winnipeg.
