The University of Santo Tomas Alumni Association of Manitoba had raised $2,000 in the recently held social fund raising at Sturgeon Community last Saturday, December 14, 2013.
The raised amount of $2,000 will be endorsed to the Archdiocese of Winnipeg and this amount is also matched by the Government of Canada dollar for dollar. Ticket sales, 50/50 and silent auctions were held to raise the said amount.
New members were welcomed by the officers and members led by Regina Santos, president of USTAAM. Christmas singing led by Clair Orallo was well accepted by the audience; games and auctions were held. Food and drinks were donated by members and everyone enjoyed the camaraderie among the Thomasians who live in Winnipeg, some came in the 60’s and 70’s, and many new members in the 90’s and 20’s. Prizes were donated by members and by Rolando Opina of the Western Technology.
The Thomasian spirit is alive as the alumni celebrated Christmas.
