The Award is a non-competitive challenge achievement program, available to all young people regardless of circumstance or ability. It recognizes the extra-curricular activities of youth 14 to 24 years of age in four different areas. These are: Physical Recreation, Community Service, Skill and Adventurous Journey. The purpose of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is to encourage young people to deepen self-awareness, build confidence, and broaden skills and experiences to further their growth as active responsible citizens, and then be recognized at the end for sustaining the commitment they have made.
