ABS-CBN Corporation President, Chief Content Officer and Chief Executive Officer Charo Santos-Concio announced the entry of The Filipino Channel (TFC) into the mainstream European circuit this month.
Santos-Concio said TFC’s theatrical arm TFC@theMovies will bring Filipino cinematic hits to Europe’s major theaters, starting with the much-awaited “A Second Chance” from ABS-CBN’s movie production and distribution arm Star Cinema. The film stars John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo. It is the sequel to their 2007 movie “One More Chance.” Filipinos in Europe can watch the romantic movie starting Dec. 5 and 6 in various theaters all over Europe notably in Vue cinemas in the United Kingdom (UK), the largest cinema group outside the US with 80 cinema houses. Other movie outlets tapped by Star Cinema and TFC include major cinemas in Milan, Rome, Messina, Padova, Paris, Madrid, and Vienna.
Santos-Concio added that this is a milestone not only for the network and its content-creators but for the Filipinos in general. For his part, TFC@theMovies Business Unit Head John Lazatin said the screening of Filipino movies will open the doors for the Filipino movie-going audience and confirms that the Filipino has indeed arrived.
