Filipino student wins 2015 Euro Pop Grand Prix

Ryan Richard Tamondong, a University of Santo Tomas student, bested 17 other contestants from European countries to win the 2015 Euro Pop “Berliner Perle” singing competition held at the Russian House of Science and Culture concert hall in Berlin, Germany.

According to Euro Pop’s official website, the award is the highest given to the “absolute winner of the ‘Best Pop Artist’ award regardless of age group.” Ryan received 500 Euro cash prize with certificate and souvenir. He will also record his winning song “Be Strong” in Berlin for sale in major music stores in Europe.

Established in 2005, the international singing competition is participated by young artists ranging from 10 to 24 years old. Initially, the competition was accessible only to European countries. The Philippines is the only country outside Europe to participate in the event.
