The parishioners of St. Peter’s Church are waking up extra early to attend Misa de Gallo or Simbang Gabi, the nine day devotion leading up to Christmas. Masses at St. Peter’s on Keewatin are at 5:30am followed by traditional Filipino fellowship and community breakfast.
The Simbang Gabi is the nine-day novena masses traditionally held at dawn starting on December 16. The tradition dates back to 1565 when the Spaniards celebrated the first Feast of the Nativity in the Philippines.
