Showbiz colleagues come to help Dick Israel

The organization of concerned members of the entertainment industry, Damay Kamay Foundation, has launched a fund drive for Dick Israel.

Israel, 57, is dire need of aid after a fire razed his house in Caloocan City on Saturday that left him and his family homeless. Actress Nadia Montenegro visited Israel on Tuesday morning on behalf of the Damay Kamay Foundation. Vivian Velez, one of the showbiz folks who run the charity group, acknowledged the immediate help given by Nikki Valdez, Ricardo Cepeda, Roderick Paulate, Rita Avila, Marvin Agustin and Efren Reyes. Israel suffered a stroke in 2010 that left half his body paralyzed and impaired his speech. He is one of the most prolific actors in the 1980s and 1990s, winning two best supporting actor awards, one from the Metro Manila Film Festival and another from the FAMAS.
