Winnipeg Jets’ centreman, Mark Scheifele was named the NHL’s second star of the week. This accolade comes after he scored 4:18 into OT during their game against league-leading Tampa Bay Lightning 5-4 last Sunday.
The win was Winnipeg’s third straight overtime victory (22-9-2) and extended their win streak to five games. It also put them in a tie for second in the NHL with the Calgary Flames and tops in the Western Conference.
Scheifele had 11 points in four games last week and is currently on a five-game point streak. He finished the week with five goals and six assists. He joined Kyle Connor as the second player in franchise history to score overtime goals in consecutive games.
Scheifele was named the first star in early December and second star of the week at the end of October. He is now fifth in the NHL in points with 46 and tied for fourth in goals with 21.
