The Filipino live-action animated film “Saving Sally” directed by Avid Liongoren, and starring Rhian Ramos and Enzo Marcos, wins top honors from two international film festivals in the United States early this month.
The film bagged the special jury prize in the international narrative competition; and the audience award in the international narrative feature section, at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival in California last May 4. On May 7, “Sally” also scored the Best Family Film plum at the Bentonville Film Festival in Arkansas. Director Liongoren is overjoyed about the triple triumph and expressed hope that the recognitions will increase the country’s chances in bringing the film to a wider audience.
