President Aquino has appointed singer singer-actor Ogie Alcasid convenor of the music and entertainment sector of the EDSA People Power Commission (PPC).
Alcasid was designated along with Philippine Daily Inquirer columnist Conrado de Quiros, former Trade secretary Jose Pardo, former Government Service Insurance System chief Cesar Sarino, advertising executive Emily Abrera, Christopher Carreon and Milagros Kilayko.
The President also reduced the number of commission members from 25 to seven through Executive Order 17.
The PPC aims to promote the ideals of the peaceful 1986 revolution which ousted from power the 20-year dictatorial regime of the late Ferdinand Marcos. The commission is mandated to hold commemorative events to uphold the principles and gains of the peaceful revolution.
Sitting as chair of the commission is Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr.
