In celebration of International Women’s Day, the dynamic empowering group Pinays MB for Filipino women in Manitoba hosted a luncheon to celebrate the achievements of community pioneers.
The Pinays MB luncheon celebrated three pioneering women including the late Mrs. Rosalinda Natividad-Cantiveros, co-founder of Winnipeg’s largest and longest running Filipino community newspaper, The Filipino Journal. Also honoured were Mrs. Erlinda Magnaye Ramos, owner of Gelyn’s Wedding Lounge and the Garment Workers Batch of 1968.
The Pinays MB organization is comprised of women from different organizations in Manitoba and the vision and purpose of the group is to help support and guide Filipino women of all ages. The Pinay MB officers include: Roselyn Advincula, Chair; Connie de Villa, Vice-Chair; Araceli Anchet, Secretary; Mila Dacwag, Asst. Secretary; Perla Javate, Treasurer; Irene Medina, Asst. Treasurer; and Tes Aeill and Emmie Joaquin serving as Public Relations Officers.
