The organizers of the forthcoming OPM Legends (March 14, Club Regent Event Centre) staged a courtesy taster show held at Jimel’s International Cuisine on Valentine’s Day. It was the producers’ way of showing gratitude to those who support the upcoming show, especially those who have already bought their tickets. OPM Patikim featured performances by the front acts of OPM Legends—local artists/bands Levy Abad, haLf man haLf eLf, and Traffik Jamm. First to perform, Abad dished out a number of his usual acoustic-guitar-vocal ditties that included his own compositions like “Dito sa Winnipeg” and a handful of ch: oice covers like Buklod’s “Kanlungan” and Rey Valera’s “Kahit Maputi na ang Buhok Ko.” For their part, haLf man haLf eLf showcased their brand of Classical New Wave music with originals “Brilliance,” “Simple,” and “Brother’s Pain” and an impressive version of Yano’s “Esem,” which was sung by the non-Filipino violinist of the group. The show was closed to a heat by the rocking set of Traffik Jamm, which delivered engaging foot stompers.
As the bill said, OPM Patikim; thus, that was just a taster. A much more astounding performances by the three local acts as well as by the main touring artists themselves—Rico J. Puno, Hajji Alejandro, Marco Sison, and Eva Eugenio—are yet to be seen come March 14 at Club Regent Event Centre.
