“Acoustic Pop Prince” Nyoy Volante said he enjoys doing theater projects that he made arrangements with Star Magic to allow him to do at least one musical every year.
The Philippine production of Broadway’s “Shrek The Musical,” gladdens Nyoy not only because it’s his 10th musical but more for the reason that he gets to explore different facets of his musical abilities.
In “Shrek The Musical,” Nyoy plays Donkey, Shrek’s best friend. He is also currently busy writing songs for his new album which he hopes to be released by the end of the year or early next year. He also performs in the Hard Rock Cafe in Manila and Baraberdie in Pasig, Metro Manila.
Also in the musical are Rycharde Everley as Shrek, Shiela Valderrama as the slightly temperamental and neurotic character Princess Fiona, Jett Pangan as Lord Farquaad, Nel Gomez as Pinocchio and Carla Guevara-Laforteza as Dragon.
An entertaining, family-friendly show under the direction of Bobby Garcia, “Shrek The Musical,” opens Sept. 19and runs through Oct. 12 at the Meralco Theatre.
