Nonito Donaire, Jr returned to the country Wednesday morning amidst commendations that he be declared Fighter of the Year or be inducted to the Hall of Fame for his victories.
The Filipino Flash has so far won all his fights this year, the most recent against Mexican Jorge Arce whom he knocked out in the third round. His victory was also welcome news and source of pride among Filipinos following the stunning loss of Manny Pacquiao to Juan Manuel Marquez last December 9.
Donaire admitted that Pacquiao’s loss both inspired and pressured him to do very well in his own match.
He said he is deeply honored on the numerous commendations from the sportswriters and the adulations of the public as he vowed to sharpen his boxing skills even more.
