Coin donations from public schools students in the National Capital Region (NCR) totaling P1, 254,499.05, were turned over to Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Bro. Armin Luistro at the Bulwagan ng Karunungan, DepEd Central Office on Tuesday.
Luistro said the amount was raised in a 5-day fund drive initiated by the DepEd-NCR to help victims in typhoon-hit areas in Mindanao. He continued to appeal for donations from DepEd employees to help school staff who lost their homes in the typhoon.
For her part, DepEd-NCR Director Luz Almeda said the campaign was started not only to give aid but to teach the students the value of sharing, adding that any amount given to the victims of Typhoon Pablo is a collective expression of love to those suffering.
Cash donations for the DepEd campaign may be deposited at the Landbank OSEC Trust Account No: 0672-1000-20.
