The Original Filipino Seniors Association of Manitoba (OFSAM) celebrated the mother’s day by recognizing Letty Antonio as the Mother of the Year 2012.
The annual celebration was attended by other filipino seniors who had been awarded as mother of the year for many years. Invited guests were Larry and Tova Vickar of the Vickar Autogroup; MP Kevin Lamoureux and his wife Cathy, Rolly Bercasio, one of the founders, was able to join other seniors. Other included Rod E. Cantiveros, publisher of the Filipino Journal and the immediate past president of Asian Heritage Society of Mantioba; Julie Javier, governor of Batangas Association of Manitoba and committee chairman of Asian Festival at the Forks for Asian Heritage Society of Manitoba; former MLA Cris Aglugub; and Aida Champagne, president of Filipino Seniors Group, together with senior dancers.
Every former mother of the year awardee offered flowers to Letty Antonio, the secretary of OFSAM. Her husband, Florencio Antonio, OFSAM president, escorted his wife during the presentation, together with their children who offered flowers and gifts.
