An eager group of future masterchefs come together every Saturday for the Filipino Family Cooking Group at the Norwest Community Food Centre. The program is free for new immigrants, permanent residents and the occassional media participant looking to dust up some culinary skills.
The menu for last week’s cooking group included mini mushroom and herb quiche toast cups and Filipino chicken macaroni sopas. Food handling and prepping skills were part of the training including cooking healthier versions of recipies such as cooking with less salt/sodium ingredients.
There are many ways to get involved at the Norwest Community Food Centre. Visit thier website, Norwestcoop.ca for more information. Good luck and happy cooking!
