Formed in 2010, Immortal Sacrament is perhaps the only legitimate Metal band of Manitoba whose members are all Filipinos. The band is currently comprised by Paul Magnaye (vocals), Sherwin Ylagan (bass), Marron Verzosa (guitar), Ronnel Villamar (guitar), and Jolo Mejia (drums). They cite System of a Down, Killswitch Engage, and Bullet for My Valentine as their major musical influences. During the first batch of Immortal Sacrament, with former drummer Joseph David and bass player Michael Borja, they have released an album of 10 songs the main theme of which was hope. In the second album that the band is currently working on, they talk about struggles and life’s experiences. Possible songs include “Life,” “Resurrection,” “Grave,” “Silhouette,” “Greed,” “Flames,” and “Undivided.” Immortal Sacrament has come a long way in their four years of existence; they have performed at various venues and events that included The Zoo Night Club and Ozzy’s Bar (160 Osborne St.), Club 3D at Kirkfield Motor Hotel (3317 Portage Ave.), Park Theatre (698 Osborne St.), Garrick Centre (330 Garry St.), Dylan o’Connors Irish Pub (2609 Portage Ave.), Death Trap (93 Albert St.), Henderson Draft House at Curtis Gordon Motor Hotel (1011 Henderson Hwy.), Rookies at Central Hotel (201 Melrose Ave. E), The Cavern (112 Osborne St.), Chugfest at Ridgeville, and Rock against Ignorance at West End Cultural Centre. Immortal Sacrament was the winner of Dylan o’Connors’ 2011 My Band Rocks competition, performing alongside many of Manitoba’s prime bands.
Immortal Sacrament is among the 10 bands performing at the FAMOUS-produced Pinoy Rock Fest 2014 on May 24, at Jimel’s
International Cuisine (A-1045 St. James St.).
