Guimbanian Association of Manitoba celebrates its 31st fiesta and crowns Mutya ng Guimba 2011, Jerica Angele Andres

Yearly, the Guimbanian Association of Manitoba celebrates its town fiesta to maintain the promotion and preservation of the tradition of their hometown, Guimba, Nueva Ecija. Rochelle Buenaventura, 2011 National Leadership Awardee for community involvement, currently the president of the association, led the celebration where various dance groups were invited and participated; and to add colors and excitements, the traditional recognition of Guimbanian beauties was held.

This years Guimbanian Association of Manitoba beauties include, Jerica Angele Andres, as” Mutya ng Guimba 2011”, and her escort, Clint Sumawang; “Prinsesita ng Guimba”, Princess Berhone Guerrero Wy, Sam Gutierrez, escort. Thessa Skye Baldo Oduca was proclaimed “Mutya ng Kabukiran” escorted by Michael Catchway; and “Mutya ng Nayon”, Mary Kathryn de Guzman, escort: Ian de Guzman de Vera.

Some of the projects of the association is the “Operation Damayan” : Pamaskong Handog, a gift-giving activity of Radyo Natin Guimba. Through this activity, a yearly donation is sent by the Guimbanians Associaiton to their kababayans in Guimba. These donations provide special Christmas gift to the more than 1,000 underprivileged families and seasonal farm workers. Scholarships are also awarded to qualified less fortunate students in Guimba. The association also supported financially in the construction and completion of the new rectory convent, a historic building built in the 1040’s.

The 2011 Guimba Town Fiesta had all the fun, the food and the music. It was a night to enjoy lots of dancing.
