Global Pinoys adopt runners to help restore Pasig River

On October 10, 2010, Filipinos from all walks of life and all over the world will come together for the 10.10.10 Run for the Pasig River to help restore the dying river to its former glory, giving the next generations the future they deserve.

Not wanting to miss this historic event, wherein the 120,000 runners will aim to make it to the Guinness Book of World Records, Filipino migrants who cannot physically join the runners in Manila have been given the opportunity by The Filipino Channel (TFC) to virtually participate by adopting a runner.

A small amount registers one runner on behalf of the Filipino living abroad and provides his/her adopted runner with an exclusive TFC jersey to be worn only by adopted runners of Global Pinoys. There is no limit to the number of runners a Global Pinoy can adopt.

Through the Adopt-A-Runner option, Global Pinoys can make their presence felt even though they’re outside the Philippines and still play a crucial role in this fund-raising effort, said ABS-CBN Global Corporate Affairs Head Jeffrey Remigio. We realize how rehabilitating the Pasig River can change some perceptions of our country and we want to encourage TFC subscribers to join us in this crusade, he added.

Airing worldwide, TFC has helped raise awareness among overseas Filipinos about the plight of the Pasig River which has long been associated with what ails the Philippines. With viewers? Heightened awareness, Remigio is confident of their unrelenting contribution to the rivers restoration.

From our TFC subscribers alone, who have been lending their generous support to ABS-CBN Foundation’s numerous projects, we expect a huge number of adopted runners. And for sure, there are other Filipinos out there who are just so willing to give and are eager to help revive our nation.
