Winnipeg Technical College’s student hairstylists answer the call for more help
The Winnipeg Technical College Hairstyling Evening Class, with the support of the Canadian Red Cross conducted a fundraising event last January 16, 2014 by offering haircut, manicure, shampoo, scalp massage and style for just $10 per service!, for the victims of the super typhoon Haiyan which brought havoc, death and destruction at the Central Philippines.
Led by Angela Manalo, one of the students; and supported Debbie Rurak and Vanhphen Souvannarath, instructors, the fundraising effort welcomed some customers and friends to particpate in the fund raising. All the payments for the services are donated and the proceeds were endorsed to the Canadian Red Cross.
“After watching those images left by the typhoon, we decided to help those victims and with our learning knowledge here at the Winnipeg Technical College’s hairstyling evening class. With the help of our instructors and other students and our customers and friends, the amount paid for the service would help the victims,” said by Angela Manalo, the organizer.
“I am so excited when Angela Manalo proposed this fund raising and we agreed to work it out, to help the people in the Philippines and the response is amazing,”: Debbie Rurak said.
