Winnipeg treated to NBA pre-season game
For any Filipino basketball fan and player, they know that the NBA is an international game and fans from all over the world follow NBA. For one night, the NBA came to Winnipeg and Filipino fans amongst the 12,163 basketball fans to pack the MTS Centre for the NBA Canada Series which featured the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Detroit Pistons.
As the home team, the Minnesota Timberwolves made their way to various events leading up to the game by hosting kids and coach clinics including a new gym unveiling at the Magnus Eliason Recreation Centre under the NBA Cares program.
Also in Winnipeg, was NBA Hall of Fame legend, Dream Team member of the 1992 Barcelona Olympics Team USA squad, Clyde “The Glide” Drexler.
Final score in the game, Timberwolves beat the Pistons, 95-76. Following the game, the Filipino Journal group was ushered onto center court for a photo with a pair of Minnesota Timberwolves cheerleaders.
