Fil-Am band hurdles initial round of “America’s Got Talent”

After Jessica Sanchez’s historic achievement on “American Idol,” it’s the turn of “Ivy Rose” to show its musical talent.

Judges Sharon Osbourne, Howie Mendel and Howard Stern of NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” have given their nod on the Filipino-American all-girl band to compete for the $1 million cash prize and the chance to perform in Las Vegas before a nationwide audience.

The band is composed of sisters Isabelle, Sarah and Kristine de Leon, and vocalist Martina San Diego, who incidentally have Cebuanas as mothers.

Ivy Rose is a product of a family’s love of music. The band’s manager Tito de Leon is the father of Isabelle, Sarah and Kristine, while his wife Lynn is the group’s marketing agent.

Drummer Isabelle is on her senior year at the University of Maryland. where she is pursuing Pre-Medicine and Jazz Drums Performance. Lead guitarist Sarah is an incoming freshman at the University of Maryland where she wants to pursue a double major in electrical engineering and jazz guitar. Bass guitarist Kristine is a senior at the Catholic University of America in Washington DC where she is pursuing a degree in architecture.

Vocalist Marti who also plays rhythm guitar, is a high school senior and has been performing in front of audiences since she was 5.
