Dolphy continues to bring people together

The Dolphy Aid Para sa Pinoy Foundation, Inc. is staging a big gathering of local stars with “Dolphy: Alay Tawa,” a musical tribute to the King of Comedy on September 19, 7 p.m. at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

Celebrities from rival networks ABS-CBN 2, TV5 and GMA 7 have come together for this rare occasion in honor of Dolphy’s memory and to pay homage to the Comedy King whose life has touched many Filipinos through his talent, charisma, and commitment to entertain people.

Representatives from all three networks joined Dolphy’s children Eric, Vandolph, Sally, Ronnie, Dolphy Jr. and Jeffrey to discuss this ambitious undertaking during a press conference held on Tuesday at Mother Lily’s Imperial Suites penthouse. Eric correctly pointed out that this will be the first after many years that the three biggest television networks are working together to produce a show.

The musical concert will be based on Dolphy’s career and will provide the audience with the best of the local music scene and Philippine movies, many of whom have worked with Dolphy before.

The concert will be held on September 19 with TV simulcast across all three networks on September 30 at 10 p.m. A minimum donation of P150 is equivalent to one ticket at the General Admissions, P250 for the Upper Box and P450 for the Lower Box.

The show will be directed by Al Quinn, with Bibeth Orteza as script writer.
